The XACT™ 5 degrees-of-freedom robot inserts and steers the needle/tool to the target in one-shot. The physician plans the procedure on the XACT™ workstation, selecting a desired target, entry point and verification points along the trajectory.
The XACT™ Robot is draped and attached to the patient. A standard needle/tool is then attached to the robot, and the robot performs the needle insertion and steering to the desired target. Between each verification point the XACT™ System compensates for any deviation of the needle from the planned trajectory and enables updating the target location in case of movement. Throughout the procedure the XACT™ System is synchronised with the patient’s breathing cycle.
